almost there...

This surely is a good idea to help Jakarta residents making their lives easier. Read the following article (only in Indonesian) for more about it. You send an sms to 1717 to find out the location of the SAMSAT bus for the day, and you get an instant reply of where to renew your drivers license and car’s license in 5 (SIM and STNK) main areas in the city.

So I decided to do it myself instead of using some broker to do it. It was actually easy and painless. Just don’t forget to bring a pen (even if you do they sell one for 2,000 rups) and all the documents and a copy of each of them (if you forgot, they have a copier ready too!). You fill out the form, attach the copied documents and submit it. Sit around for almost an hour (bring a book or play games on your PDA/phone, or chat with people), and they’ll call you one by one.

But it didn’t really finish. The most important part, the paper that was supposed to be replaced was not ready. They were out. It’s the paper that gets renewed every year. It was supposed to be ready on Aug 12, so in the mean time just bring that piece of invoice while driving. I wonder what kind of scam or corruption is going on.

Interesting, as they were excusing themselves, there was a big sign on the side that said: we’re not perfect but we’re improving. Great guys, you’re almost there… just don’t fall asleep on my paper there!

Driving your dinner

It would be really nice to have someone to drive me everyday back and forth. And handy too, so I don’t have to risk my (and other people’s) safety when I caught interesting view like this with my compact camera.

If I can hear them thinking they would have said “are we there yet??” What they didn’t know was that they were heading to the butcher's house, and before you know it pieces of it ended up in someone’s plate.
